Model May Andersen is Playboy’s Newest Cover Girl

May Andersen, a 29-year-old model and art guru from New York City, is the latest beauty to grace the cover of Playboy magazine. Though models aren’t typically known for their knowledge of fine art, Andersen isn’t your typical model. The Danish stunner is an assistant director at The Hole, one of New York’s most respected avant-garde galleries. So how did May snag such an esteemed position?

“Basically, I’m 29 now, which is old in model years, and around the time I started thinking about what I wanted to do next, this opportunity came up,” Andersen said. “I started out as an intern at The Hole, and one year later I'm an assistant director. I’m really serious about it and so grateful and honored to be able to work with all these great artists.”

May curates exhibits and events for emerging artists at the East Village gallery.

Born in Denmark, Andersen has modeled for the likes of Chanel, Burberry, BCBG, Victoria’s Secret, and Sports Illustrated swimsuit. She has also appeared on the covers of fashion magazines such as German Vogue, Italian Glamour, and British Cosmopolitan.

In 2006, Andersen made headlines for allegedly striking a flight attendant on a flight from Amsterdam to Miami. However, all charges were dropped after May completed an anger management course.

The May issue of Playboy will be available on April 20. Pick up the mag to see May’s eight-page spread. In the meantime, here are a few preview pics.
