It’s official. Kate Upton is this year’s cover model for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Kate may be young, but she has already made quite an impact in the modeling industry and men everywhere!
Just a few months after earning the number 2 spot on AskMen.com’s Top 99 Women of 2012, she has snagged the cover of one of the biggest magazine issues of the year! This honor has been given to some of the biggest names in the industry, like Irina Shayk, Brooklyn Decker, Bar Refaeli, Marisa Miller and Beyonce Knowles.
Being that she is so young and new to public eyes, there is probably a lot you don’t know about her. For starters, she is the youngest Sports Illustrated cover model in recent history at 19 years old. All of the other big name stars listed above were in their 20s when they graced the cover. This isn’t her first big break though. She walked into an open call at 15 and walked out a signed model! She did a good amount of work in Miami and in Europe.
Kate also has talents beyond looking beautiful in front of a camera. She is an accomplished equestrienne with five riding championship wins. She also has some sweet dance moves. A video of Kate doing “The Dougie” at a Clippers game went viral on YouTube with over 3 million page views!
